A long weekend

I am at the end of a long and eventful weekend. Some good news, some bad, got some work done, but not enough. My dad and brother came into Columbus for the weekend, which was nice. We don't get to hang out enough. Friday night we went to Schmidt's German Village Restaurant. If I am ever on death row, I think my last meal will have to be Schmidt's sausages and their pretzel bites. Anyway, it was a pretty good night all round.

Saturday was pretty low key. E and I woke up late and got some Cane's for lunch. He seemed underwhelmed, I guess Cane's really peaks after a good night of drinking. Anyway, we were both tired from Friday night so we just hung out and watched the Heroes marathon on SciFi. Great show btw if you haven't been watching, catch up on DVD when it comes out. After a couple hours of that we headed over to the Chemistry symposium to hear my Dad's PhD advisor talk about dodecahedrane. The chemistry was over our heads but it was cool to see the guy talk anyway. After that, my dad, brother, and I went to a Columbus Clippers game because I got some free tickets through the Astronomy dept. That was kinda funny. We saw D'Angelo Jimenez, former White Sox player, playing for the AAA Clippers (Washington Nationals), and Edwin Encarnacion on the Louisville Bats (Cincinatti Reds). Neither team was that impressive. There were a lot of fielding errors for the Clippers.

Sunday was pretty quiet too. I slept almost all day, aside from waking up early for breakfast and to see my family off. We got the base for our football cannon, Pachelbel, built and we tested our gun. It was really impressive if I say so myself. Hopefully I'll get pictures and/or video at the competition that I can post on here or youtube in a couple weeks.

What I'm listening to right now:
Dig - Incubus : Even if you don't think you like Incubus, listen to this song. It is just amazing.

A Comet Appears - The Shins : Simply beautiful and a bit melancholy at the same time.
